Christmas Light Installation in Missoula, Montana

Our crews are based in Missoula, so in-town installs are scheduled most weekdays from early November on rather than waiting for a route day.

Montana Lights is based in Missoula, and most of what we hang each season goes up within a few miles of our shop. We are a full-service holiday lighting company owned and operated by Constructive Brothers, a licensed and insured local construction outfit, which means the people on your roof do this kind of work for a living year round. We bring commercial-grade LED lights, design the layout on a free visit to your home, install it, keep it working through December, and come back in January to take it all down and store it. You never buy a strand or set a foot on a ladder.

Missoula houses ask for different things. The craftsman bungalows in the University District and the Slant Streets have deep eaves and porch columns that look best with a single warm-white C9 line and a lit wreath on the door. Up the Rattlesnake and in Grant Creek, lots are bigger and the ponderosa pines run sixty feet tall, and the HOAs often have quiet rules about color. Newer builds in Miller Creek and the South Hills have steep metal roofs that shed snow fast and need clips rated for it. Out in Target Range and Orchard Homes, long fence lines and mature cottonwoods carry light a long way. We have hung lights in all of these and price each house on what it actually needs.

Pricing is straightforward. Most Missoula homes land between $900 and $2,500 for a first season, and returning seasons cost less because the custom-cut strands are already made and sitting in our storage. Book by October 31 and our Lit by Thanksgiving Guarantee applies. If a section goes dark during the season, our 48-Hour Repair Promise means someone is back on your roof within two days. Call (406) 207-2524 or request a free design visit online and we will walk the house with you.

Lighting Homes in Missoula: What We Plan For

Downtown storefronts on Higgins

Downtown Missoula retail along Higgins Avenue and the side streets off it runs on foot traffic in December, and a lit facade is the cheapest signage a shop can buy. We install commercial roofline and window lighting after hours so the sidewalk stays open, and we handle the timers so nothing is left on at 3 a.m.

Inversion fog and short days

From late November into January, Missoula sits under an inversion more days than not, and it is fully dark by five. Lights in the valley are seen through a haze, so we lean toward warm-white C9 bulbs with real brightness and space them so the roofline reads from the street rather than blurring into a glow.

Old roofs and older trees

The Northside, Westside and Lewis and Clark neighborhoods have a lot of century-old houses with brittle cedar shakes or original gutters, and a lot of cottonwoods planted when the houses were built. We use non-piercing clips on rooflines and bring a lift for anything over about thirty feet, so nothing gets damaged and nobody free-climbs a tree.

FAQs

Missoula Questions

How much does Christmas light installation cost in Missoula?
Most Missoula homes come in between $900 and $2,500 for a first season, depending mostly on roofline length and how many trees you want wrapped. Wreaths and garland add a little on top. That price covers the lights themselves, design, installation, all-season maintenance, January takedown and storage. Returning customers pay less each year because the strands are already cut to the house. The design visit and quote are free.
Do you work with Missoula HOAs like Grant Creek or Farviews?
Yes. Several Missoula subdivisions, including parts of Grant Creek and Farviews, have covenants on light color or on how long displays can stay up. Tell us which HOA you are in and we will match the design to the rules, usually with warm white or a restrained two-color scheme. Our January takedown also keeps you inside any deadline for removing decorations.
Can you light my downtown Missoula business or office?
We do commercial holiday lighting for storefronts along Higgins and Front Street, offices on Broadway, restaurants, and larger properties like car lots and medical buildings. Commercial jobs get the same commercial-grade LEDs and the same maintenance promise as homes, and we schedule installs before opening or after close so customers are never routed around a lift. Returning seasons cost less for businesses too, since the strands are cut once and stored.
