C9 LED bulbs on socket wire cut to your exact peaks and gutter runs, held with shingle tab and gutter clips so your roof looks the same in April as it did in October.
The roofline is the part of a display everyone sees from the street, and it is also the part most likely to go wrong. Loose strands sag between clips, and a single dark bulb in a straight run stands out from a block away. We build rooflines with commercial C9 LED bulbs screwed into heavy-gauge socket wire that we cut to the measured length of every run on your house. Peaks get a bulb right at the point and corners meet without a gap. Because the crew that hangs them works on roofs for Constructive Brothers the rest of the year, the strand follows the roof edge with the kind of straight line a framer expects to see.
Attachment is where most roof damage happens, and it is the reason we never use staples or nails. On asphalt shingles, a shingle tab clip slides under the bottom course and grips the socket wire. Where the gutter sits proud of the drip edge, a gutter clip snaps over the lip and holds the bulb upright. Newer builds around Missoula with steep standing-seam metal roofs get a clip made for the seam instead. Ice dams are a real concern on rooflines that face north, so we keep the wire out of the gutter trough where it would freeze into the ice and route it along the fascia. Every run ends at a GFCI outlet through a photocell timer.
Roofline-only installs on most Missoula homes run $400 to $1,600 for a first season, with total linear footage and the number of peaks and stories being the biggest factors.

We measure every eave and gable on your house and cut socket wire to match, then space C9 bulbs at 12 inches so the outline reads evenly from the road. There are no coiled leftovers at the corners and no gaps where a stock strand ran short.
Each clip type is chosen for the edge it sits on. Shingle tab clips tuck under asphalt shingles and gutter clips grip the outer lip of the gutter, with seam clips for standing-seam metal. None of them pierce anything, which is why we can promise your roof is unchanged when the lights come down.
Clips are spaced every 12 inches on exposed runs so a Bitterroot wind cannot lift the wire off the edge, and the socket wire is rated for the weight of wet snow sitting on it for weeks. Bulbs face outward and slightly down so early snow slides past rather than piling on the socket.
Because each run is cut to your house, the strands go into labeled storage in January and come back out for you the next fall. That is why returning customers pay noticeably less: the measuring and cutting are already done and install day is mostly clipping and testing.
During the free design visit we measure each roofline segment and sketch which edges get lit. Most homes light the front-facing eaves and gables, and some add the garage or a back deck that faces the yard.
In the shop we cut socket wire to each measurement and screw in C9 LED bulbs in your chosen color, then power up each run on the bench before it leaves.
On install day we work from ladders or the roof depending on pitch, clipping every foot along the edge and dressing the wire so bulbs stand straight. Runs are joined at the corners and connected to the timer at the outlet.
We set the photocell timer and confirm the whole outline lights together. If you want the roofline dark until a certain date, we program that before we leave, and our 48-Hour Repair Promise starts that evening.
